Kuselan team is gearing up for the much awaited audio launch. And as i said already a stylish invitation has been prepared and sent to the participants.

The invitation is much attractive in all aspects including desing, style, pictures used and techincs adopted in printing.

I think this is the first time a stylish and costly invitation prepared for our movie. Thanks to those who are behind this.

Herewith i present the exclusive pictures of the invitation desing for our blog readers.

Note: Actually i hate putting watermarks in images. But some websites are lifting the content and images from my blog and using them without giving appropriate credits. So my hard work goes vain. So am pushed to put watermarks. I have given permission only to www.rajinifans.com and a few of our visitors and my friends for taking images or contents from here. Others should use them only with appropriate credits for the blog.

Kuselan tracks gold
29 Jun 2008, 0025 hrs IST, Sreedhar Pillai,TNN

Rajinikanth has once again proved that he is the real superstar of Kollywood.

The audio of Kuselan has been sold for a whopping Rs 2.25 crore by its producers to Big Music. It is the highest price ever paid for a Tamil film by an audio company.

The official audio launch will take place on Monday at a suburban five-star hotel in Chennai. Rajinikanth and the rest of the Kuselan team including Nayanthara, Pasupathy, Vadivel, Meena, director P Vasu, producer K Balachandar and music director G V Prakash will attend the function. The buzz is that the chief guest at the function will be Prakash's uncle and mentor A R Rahman.

The mere name Rajinikanth, spells magic not only at the box-office but also in sale of audios. The audio company is coming out with two lakhs CD's (Rs 99) and cassettes (Rs 45) of the film, which will be on sale from July 1 morning in all music outlets worldwide. Says a beaming Umesh Pai, General Manager South, Big Music, “Never before in the history of Tamil audio has two lakh CD's and cassettes been available in the market on the opening day. There is already an order for 1.15 units from the dealers. We are expecting it to beat all sales records once the film is released. The company is also reported to be spending another Rs 30 lakhs towards promotions and merchandising of the album. In addition to that, the digital downloads of the songs in the film has been sold by the audio company.

The previous highest selling audio according to industry estimates was Rajnikanth's Sivaji, which had music by A R Rahman and is reported to have sold nearly 4 lakh CD's and cassettes.

How is it possible for an audio of a Tamil film to get such a high price at a time when the audio industry is in doldrums and there is rampant piracy? “Just the name attached to the label, Rajinikanth is the selling point of the album.

G V Prakash's last album sold for Rs 20 lakhs, today the market for a film's audio rights depends very much on the hero of the film,” says an audio industry spokesman.

The producers of Kuselan, Kavithalayaa and Seven Arts Films are marketing it as a full fledged Rajinikanth extravaganza. At the movie launch, the superstar said that he appears in 25 percent of the film however, director P Vasu claims that Rajinikanth, who is doing a special appearance has one-hour of screen time of the film's approximately 2 hours 40 minutes running time. Kuselan is a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Katha Parayumbol.

The superstar will feature in three of the five songs in the film. His introduction song Cinema, Cinema, sung by Shankar Mahadevan will feature more than a dozen Kollywood stars who will join the superstar in celebrating 75 years of the South Indian film industry. Another highlight is the seven-minute song Om Zaarare sung by Daler Mehendi, Chitra and Sadhana Sargam and features Rajinikanth and Nayanthara. Pasupathy and Meena, the hero and heroine of the film, seem to be sidelined and will feature in one song and briefly appear in another.

GV. Prakash's 'Kuselan stage show' to rock Chennai, Hyderabad

Kuselan - the name spells magic these days. The movie is gearing up for a spectacular opening and reports suggest that just about everyone who worked for the movie is happy with the outcome of all the songs composed by young G. V. Prakash.

The 'Kuselan' think-tank has planned an extravaganza for live music lovers in Chennai and Hyderabad. G. V. Prakash's team along with all the singers of the various songs will perform live on stage on the 19th of July in Chennai and on the 25th of July in Hyderabad. Initial reports suggest that all the actors who performed in 'Kuselan' would also be present. However, this is yet to be confirmed officially.

Many production houses have come out with novel ways of attracting the general public's attention to their movies. We recently witnessed Jackie Chan at the audio launch of 'Dasavatharam'.

The concept of a live show playing out the music of the film is indeed very attractive. However this has nothing to do with the audio launch. The audio launch for Kuselan would happen as planned on the 30th of June at Hotel Le Royal Meridian at 7 pm in Chennai. Attractive booklet style invitations have already been handed out to guests.

Superstar Rajinikanth looks spectacular in the film and seems completely at home with the attitude of a 'style king'. When it comes to style, he most surely is the best in the world. Playing a film superstar in 'Kuselan' is a boon for millions of his fans as he can enact all the stylish walk, talk, gestures and attitude he has developed over the years.

This film would also be a major benchmark in G. V. Prakash's career. 23 years of age and has bowled over the likes of Rajinikanth, P. Vasu and K. Balachander.

Superstar Rajini among 50 most admired Indians!

Last issue of 4 Ps (a business and marketing fortnight magazine) carried a special survey of India’s 50 most admired people.
I have presented only important and necessary points discarding other ordinary aspects.

As a pride for Tamil Nadu, Superstar was able to garner 30th position in this survey as a new entrant.

Pride Tamilians

Apart from Superstar, other Tamilians including Abdul Kalam (25), Maestro AR Rahman (23), Grand master Viswanathan Anand (29), P Chidambaram (14) and F1 racer Narain Karthikeyan (50) too found their place in this survery in respective positions marked in brackets.

Post Sivaji…

Tamil cinema market which was unseen by English media or Norther Magazines has now grabbed the attention post Sivaji and its phenomenal success.

The entire credit goes to one and only Superstar.

This year he is just a new entrant. Hope next year he will climb to a considerable position in this survery.

Mode of survery

The survey was conducted using various methodologies by ICMR (The Indian council for Marketing Research and 4Ps B & M edit team.

Parameters applied to select the contenders’ list include: Visibility in media over the last year, leadership qualities displayed, positive action taken by the personality in their respective domain for the last one year.

To arrive the final list with ranks a close-ended questionnaire was circulated to 1,012 respondents across five metros of the country including Chennai using random sampling technique.

The questionnaire asked the respondents to rate the contenders on the below key parameters:

Media prominence
Power to influence
Personal charisma

Dasavatharam Vs Sivaji

It would interesting to compare the collections of Dasavatharam and Sivaji. Last week Dasavatharam started tumbling and falling from its 12th position to a worrisome 19th position at the UK box office although with marginal effect on the collections. The movie collected $426,770 during its second as opposed to Sivaji that collected $546,738 in its second week at the UK box office. Rajinikanth Rocks!
Another interesting stat to be noted is that Dasavatharam is released in 8 more than theatres than Sivaji. Analysts predict Dasavatharam to fetch $700000 in total while Sivaji garnered $800000 during its run. While this is the status of UK box office, its Malaysian counterpart does not present a rosy picture either. The weekend has registered a collection of $1,208,007 while Sivaji garnered $1,471,454 during the same period. Malaysian trade experts aver that it would be a Herculean task for Dasavatharam to reach $ 2.5 million that Sivaji garnered during its run. To add to the woes, the Will Smith starrer Hancock is also releasing this weekend that is sure to dampen the Dasavatharam collections. This shows Rajinikanth has more fans than Kamal!

The most-sought amidst audio dealers!

Do you know that this standee which you are seeing here is the hottest and most-sought among Richie Street audio dealers?

When Big Music placed the standee in 'Super Tracks' Audio shop two days before, other important audio dealers too wanted similar standees for them and urged Big Music to supply it immediately.

Guess what, Big Music made them ready immediately and supplied to other shops and wholesale dealers in Richie street with an additional vinyl too. (The beside photograph was shot at Big Music's regional head office in Chennai a few days before. How is it?)

The name Superstar is enough
The response and pre-release enquiry for the audio is the one which Tamil cinema has never seen. When there's a response for mega projects like Sivaji it is understandable. Because stalwarts join together there. But in Kuselan it is not the case. GV Prakash is an upcoming music director. And Superstar is appearing in extend cameo role only. Despite this, just the name Superstar itself has made the audio hottest amidst retailers and wholesale dealers.

Big Music sources say that they would use this opportunity to establish the brand Big Music further deeper amidst the music lovers of varied centres of A, B and C.

Queries from FM channels too
Already queries have been flowing from various FM channel stations regarding the exclusive airing of the songs - despite the official FM being Big FM 92.7 - a subsidiary of Big Music.

Shankar Mahadevan jinx will be broken. No worry!!
I once again say, songs have been shaped out well and GV Prakash is sure to go places. And I hope that here afterwards the Shankar Mahadevan jinx will be broken.

Another feather in Emperor's crown: Superstar as comic character!

As said by a portal, this year seems to be a benchmark year of Superstar and his career.
Initially at the inception of the year he was selected for NDTV Indian of the Year award. Later his biography was released in March. And after that his life history in short found place in 6th standard syllabus of CBSE Books.

Now....he has turned a comic hero. Yes, Superstar finds place in line of comic heroes like Tarzan, Batman, Spiderman. But this would in Desi editions of comic books.

Deccan Chronicle (21/06/08) has given a sneak peak into this and throws some light over this.

Superstar already appeared in comics

This is not first time that Superstar turns comic hero. A decade back, 'Crime Novel' fame Rajesh Kumar has written a comic series in a periodical with Supertar in the lead illustrated by Aras. Later in Kungumam too a comic series with Rajini as main character came up which lasted for a few monts.

Note1: Though i don't like referring news or articles from other sites or papers, sometimes or manytimes i had to do that since i don't want our readers to miss any important update or happening around Superstar or his movies. Even any one of our readers read that and feels satisfied to know that from here, it would give me satisfaction.

Over to Deccan Chronicle:

A carnival for Kuselan audio launch? – Big plans of Big Music!!

As I said already Big Music has started its promotion and marketing of Kuselan audio vigorously. The company has supplied hundreds of vinyl standees for display at various music shops in the capital and all over the state.
heard that such a vinyl standee of Kuselan audio has been set at a whole sale shop in Richie street at it is attracting peoples who pass by there. So, while I went there last evening to buy an accessory for my camera, I covered the same for our blog.

It was a tough task for me to take the photograph since it was a busy evening and each and everybody who came to the shop stood before the standee gazing it and hiding it from my camera and making hard to take snaps. So, I requested them to stand aside for a few minutes so as I could take the photographs.
A cool glance at the shops

I hardly spent a few minutes before that shop. But within that time span at least a dozen by passers hooked there for a while and had a glance of the standee and then passed on. (Won’t you do that if you pass by there?)

While enquiring some shops they said that the response is mind boggling now itself and lots of queries pour each day from retailers and customers and they were tired of saying that the audio release date is July 1 only. Guess what would be the response after release?

A big gala awaits

Meanwhile Big Music, the official audio rights holder of Kuselan has planned a never before gala for the launch.

Their plans include:

1) Decorating the audio shops and music outlets with flowers and ribbons.

2) Holding a mega fireworks feast at the audio launch venue

3) Live relay of the launch in channels (under discussion)

4) Television coverage of the audio sales

5) Coverage of public and fans’ response to the audio

6) Review by music experts and personalities

7) Star bites about the songs and movie

8) Big vinyl dropouts in famous buildings of Chennai

9) Contest for ‘Big FM’ listeners etc.etc.,

At least half dozen of the above will be ticked and implemented. Mark the words and you will see while it happens.

Stay tuned for more updates….
Note: When next time you visit the blog, kindly have a glance on previous postings and look for any possible additions or omissions which I might have made. I have included a mini review of Kuselan songs in the previous post of ‘Facts on Kuselan audio’.

Big Music clutch rights of Rajnikant's 'Kuselan'

Trying to bag the rights of the music of a film of superstar Rajnikant will be there in every big music company's plans for accelerating growth.

Big Music has taken a major step in adding strength to its growth in south Indian film industries by grabbing the audio rights of Rajnikant's forthcoming bilingual movie titled as 'Kuselan' in Tamil and 'Kathanayakadu' in Telugu.

A sense of accomplishment can be felt in the words of Kulmeet Makkar, the CEO of Big Music and Home Entertainment, when he says…

"It is indeed a great honour for us to be associated with Rajnikant. He is truly one of the finest actors in the entertainment industry. With a superstar like Rajnikant, the music of 'Kuselan' is poised to be one of the biggest hits this year and we are certain that the audiences will love the mystic of G.V.Prakash's music".

Just like any movie of Rajnikant, this film has attractions seen never before in any south Indian movies.

The expectations of the diehard fans of Rajni have got increased after the superstar himself told that his character of a film star named Ashok Raj in the movie will be a turning point of his career.

Beyond being the south superstar's movie which works to a big advantage to Big Music, the music of the film gets significance in many other ways too that are great added prize catches for the company.

First of all the album is composed by a very young guy called G.V.Prakash who is the latest music sensation in the South.

Being the Mozart of Asia, A.R.Rahman's nephew has surely made him more famous, but the young lad is said to have scored some outstanding tunes for the film.

The second punch point about the music is that the Punjabi Pop King Daler Mehndi has given his voice for the first time for a south Indian film.

The Sardar has given his voice for the track "Oyam Zaarare".

The album will become a must buy item for the hardcore music buffs as the songs have been given life by top most vocalists of the country like Shakar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Sujata, Chitra, Sadna Sargam, Shreya Ghosal, Kailash Kher and Prasanna.V.V.

The music of the movie further gets spicy with the buzz that a song commemorating the 75th year of Tamil Cinema will become the most talked about music track in the recent times.

For the first time in Kollywood the top most stars of the Tamil Filmdom like Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, Suriya and Dhanush have come together for a song titled "Perinba" in which they will be seen shaking their legs with Rajnikant.

Big Music which is a Reliance ADA Group Venture is now one of the dominant players in the Indian Music industry has created strong footprints in Both Bollywood as well as in Kollywood and other regional film industries.

In North, the company has released the music of Hindi films like 'Cash', 'Dhamaal', 'Johnny Gaddaar', 'Dil Dosti', 'Khoya Khoya Chand' etc. and 'Kireedam', 'Marudamalai' 'Kannamuchi Yenada', 'Happy Days' etc from down south till now.

As the icing on the cake, a song that can be a treat to the superstar's fans is in the offering.
Repeating his hugely successful attempt of never seen before stylish gets ups in the blockbuster 'Sivaji', the actor will be portraying nearly 20 different for a song the film.

With the film packed with all these meaty and sure bet ways of hitting a great chord with the film music lovers, Big music is getting near to the day when it will experience the greatest musical hit released from its stables.

The music album will hit the stores across the country from July 1.

Rajini's reign in Mumbai Dharavi - Times of India reveals the undercurrent

Friends, today Times of India, Chennai edition has come up with a thumping article on Superstar and his fame in Mumbai.

Needless to say, we all know that Sivaji ran to packed houses in Mumbai in straight Tamil version with a fanfare equal to that of theatres in Tamil Nadu.

Now this article tries to explore his popularity in Mumbai's most popular slum.

A fantastic article. And don't forget to catch in the article where a fan tells what is true love for Superstar! The meaning of a fan's adulation can't be explained much deeper than this.

Kuselan Movie Photo Gallery - More

Class requires dedication and when one is really dedicated, one becomes passionate about entities one uses. And so it was with P Vasu, while directing Kuselan.

The director disclosed that after completing the shoot of Kuselan in a record period of just 85 days, the sets were being dismantled.

“When the men were dismantling Pasupathy’s shop, I had tears in my eyes. We had been shooting for 85 days and day in and day out we were shooting at that place and so, after a point you kind of get attached to it,” he said.“

The same was the case with actress Meena and actor Pasupathy. They were at home in that place and suddenly when the market place was being ripped apart, they felt bad about it,” he informed.

The movie is to hit the screens in July. The film is sure to draw crowds to the theatres, if one goes by the passion with which it has been made. Source: timesofindia.

Kuselan Movie Photo Gallery

It’s official now. P Vasu’s Kuselan, starring Rajini, Pasupathi, Nayanthara and Meena, will hit the screens in the state in the month of July.

Disclosing this at a press conference, Director P Vasu said that the Kuselan movie’s Telugu version would be called Kathanayakadu and not Kuseladu, as reported by some sections of the media.

Vasu also revealed that one song in the film would focus on the technicians of the film industry as the Tamil film industry is celebrating its diamond jubilee year.

Stating that the project had been completed in a short period of 85 days, the director explained that they had shot at least 60 scenes and 5 songs for the movie

“Even if we had shot one scene a day for the movie, which is an extremely difficult target to achieve, we would have required 100 days to complete the movie as the songs would have required some more time. But the fact that we were able to finish the project in a matter of 85 days says a lot about how we have worked. Only some computer graphics and re-recording work remains. The rest is done,” he said.

On being asked if the movie was shot in a hurry, he said, “The movie was made swiftly but it wasn’t made in a hurry.”

The director said that the movie will have all the commercial elements in it and that there were “inch-to inch punch dialogues in the film.”

“I have not reduced the elements that fans of Rajini expect,” he said.Lauding cameraman Arvind Krishna for his fine work, the director said, “If we were able to complete the project in such a short period of time, it was because of the cameraman, whose lighting and shots were excellent.”

He also had words of praise for GV Prakash, the music director of the film. “Rajini, who saw Prakash, after listening to the music was surprised as the 22-year-old has talent beyond his age. He asked me thrice, ‘Has he composed the music’,” Vasu added.

“The BGMs are excellent. The fact that he is from the A R Rahman family clearly shows,” he said.
Vasu, who is to direct a Hindi film next, was pleased that Sai Meera had brought the rights for the worldwide release of the film when it was being shot itself.

He said Rajini, Meena and Nayanthara, were the only three artistes who had been featured in both the Tamil and Telugu versions. All other artistes are different, he pointed out. Source: timesofindia.
